Altenau is a residential area in the Groß Ellingen district of Hohenberg-Krusemark in the Stendal district , Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The two-part settlement of Altenau is located two kilometers southwest of Krusemark and about two kilometers west of Groß Ellingen in the Altmark .

Neighboring towns are Bertkow in the north, Krusemark in the northeast, Groß Ellingen in the east, Beelitz in the southeast and Baben southwest.

history

In the Landbuch der Altmark of 1427 the field of the wösten Dorpes Altena was mentioned , which belonged to the Arneburg Castle and was used by 8 farmers in Krusemark. Further mentions are the years 1452 Altena and 1598 Die wuste Feldtmarcke zue Altenow .

On the Urmes table of 1843 Altenau already consists of two living spaces , the western one is labeled Hohehof , the eastern one Schulze . In later times both are labeled with Altenau on cards. After that, the name remained unchanged. In 1895 there were 17 inhabitants in the village, in 1905 there were 11.
