Gefen Primo

Gefen Primo (born March 26, 2000 ) is an Israeli judoka . In 2018 she was third at the European Championships.

Athletic career

Gefen Primo fights in the half-light weight, the weight class up to 52 kilograms. After a seventh place in 2015 and a fifth place in 2016, she won the silver medal behind the Hungarian Szofi Özbas at the 2017 European Cadet Championships . Three months later Primo was third in the Junior European Championships.

At the 2018 European Championships in front of a home crowd in Tel Aviv, she lost to Evelyne Tschopp from Switzerland in the quarter-finals . Primo secured a bronze medal with victories over the Slovenian Anja Štangar and the Turkish İrem Korkmaz . At the World Championships in Baku Primo finished seventh after losing to French Amandine Buchard in the quarterfinals . Four weeks later she reached the final of the Junior World Championships in Nassau and received silver behind the Japanese Ryoko Takeda . In 2019 Gefen Primo took third place at the Grand Slam tournament in Baku . In July 2019, she won her first Grand Prix tournament in Montreal. At the World Championships in Tokyo , she was eliminated in her first fight against the British Chelsie Giles .
