controversy

On September 18, 2019, the International Judo Federation imposed a protective ban on Iran because the country repeatedly eliminates athletes from tournaments in order to avoid Israeli opponents. Incidents at the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo were decisive. Due to the protective barrier, Iran is temporarily excluded from all competitions as well as administrative and social activities of the international association.
