Noël van 't End

Noël van 't End (born June 15, 1991 in Houten ) is a Dutch judoka . In 2019 he won the world middleweight title.

Athletic career

The 1.85 m tall Noël van 't End has been fighting in the middleweight division, the weight class up to 90 kilograms , since 2010 . In 2011 he was second in the Dutch championships behind Robby van Laarhoven , in 2012 behind Michael Korrel . At the end of 2012 Noël van 't End won bronze at the U23 European Championships. In 2013 he won the Dutch championship. In 2014 and 2015 he took second place at the Grand Slam tournaments in Baku and Abu Dhabi. In 2016 he was eliminated from the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in his first fight against the Mongolian Otgonbaatar Lkhagvasuren .

At the European Championships in Tel Aviv in 2018 , he reached the quarter-finals for the first time and lost to the Spaniard Nikoloz Sherazadishvili . After a victory over the Georgian Beka Ghwiniaschwili and a defeat against the Greek Theodoros Tselidis , Noël van 't End finished in fifth place. In 2019 he won the Grand Slam tournament in Yekaterinburg. In 2019 the European Championships were held as part of the European Games in Minsk . Noël van 't End lost to Israeli Li Kochman in the semifinals and Mammadali Mehdiyev from Azerbaijan in the battle for bronze . At the World Championships in Tokyo , he defeated the French Axel Clerget in the quarter -finals, the Serb Nemanja Majdov in the semifinals and the Japanese Shoichiro Mukai in the final . After Anton Geesink and Willem Ruska in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as Guillaume Elmont , Dennis van der Geest and Ruben Houkes in 2005 and 2007, he was the sixth Dutchman to be judo world champion in an individual men's judo competition.
