The II. European Games 2019 were held from June 21 to 30, 2019 in the Belarusian capital Minsk .

In November 2014, EOK President Patrick Hickey was still in negotiations with potential venues. The following cities showed interest in the 2019 European Games:

In May 2015, the Netherlands was initially chosen as the venue during an extraordinary general assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOK). The Dutch government announced a few days later that they did not want to host the European Games because of the costs. The EOC started negotiations with the other associations that showed interest in hosting the event. After the withdrawal of the Netherlands, Russia was considered the favorite for the event with the joint application of Kazan and Sochi. On October 21, 2016, the EOK selected the Belarusian capital Minsk to host the second European Games.
