Joona Toivanen

Joona Toivanen (* 1981 ) is a Finnish jazz pianist and composer. Today he lives in Gothenburg .

Toivanen, whose younger brother Taipani (* 1982) works as bass player in his trio, has been forming his trio with drummer Olavi Louhivuori , whom he has known since school, since 1997 . He studied at the Finnish Conservatory. The Joona Toivanen Trio released their debut album "Numurkah" in 2000. To date, the trio has released four more albums. His brother is also a member of his quartet Jazz & Fly Fishing ; the Norwegian guitarist Håvard Stubø and the Swedish drummer Fredrik Hamrå complete the band, which also devotes themselves to fly fishing on their tours .

He also belonged to the groups of My Engström-Renman, Anders Hagberg and Joakim Berghäll, with whom he also released recordings.
