Jeon Ki-young ( Korean 전기영 ; born July 11, 1973 in Cheongju , Chungcheongbuk-do ) is a South Korean judoka .

Athletic career

At the 1996 Olympic judo tournament in Atlanta , Jeon Ki-young won the gold medal in the middleweight class up to 90 kg at the age of 23. In the final, he defeated the Uzbek Armen Bagdasarov with Ippon . In 1993 he became world champion in the weight class up to 78 kg for the first time and repeated this success again in 1995 and 1997 in the weight class up to 86 kg. In 1995 he was also Asian champion in the same weight class.

In 1999 he ended his career and started working as a trainer. In 2015 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the world association .
