Cheongju is a city in Chungcheongbuk-do Province and the capital of the same in South Korea . It is located about 35 kilometers north of Daejeon and 128 kilometers southeast of Seoul . The first book worldwide was printed in Cheongju in 1377 : The Jikji was printed with movable metal letters in the Heungdeok-sa ( 興 德 寺 ) temple . The city's printing museum is dedicated to the work and its history.
Geography and climate
Cheongju is located on the Miho Plain on the Mushim River . It has a temperate, continental climate with 4 seasons. The climate is typical for South Korea, the average temperature is 11.6 ° C. Every year, 1,216 mm of rain falls here, especially between June and September.
history
Cheongju has a long history that goes back to before the three realms . During the unified Sillas , the city acted as the second capital and was an important army base during the beginning Joseon dynasty ( 15th and 16th centuries ). With the completion of the Gyeongbu railway line in 1905 , the city developed into a transportation hub and in 1908 the administration of the province was relocated from Chungju . In 1997 the Cheongju International Airport was opened, from which, in addition to domestic flights to Jeju-do , a few flights to the People's Republic of China start.

The Gagyeong-dong Express runs from the bus station to Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju and other cities in South Korea.
Intercity buses run from Gagyeong-dong Intercity Bus Terminal to Gongju, Buyeo, Suwon, Seongnam and other cities in South Korea. There is a direct connection to Seoul Incheon Airport (3 hours).

economy
Over 180 companies have built factories in Cheongju. The largest and best known is Daenong Fiber Co. Chemicals, electronic goods and semiconductor products make up the bulk of goods produced in Cheongju, but ceramics and food are also produced here.

Six universities ( Chungbuk University , Cheongju University, Cheongju National University of Education, Korea National University of Education , Chung Cheong University, Seowon University), the Korean Air Force Academy and dozens of schools are located in Cheongju .
