The University of Chungbuk ( English : Chungbuk National University , short: CBNU ) is a state university in South Korea . It is located in Gaesin-dong, Seowon-gu, Cheongju in Chungcheongbuk-do .
The name Chungbuk ( 충북 ) is the short form of Chung cheong buk -do ( 충 청 북 도 ).
history
The university was founded in September 1951 as Cheongju Provincial Agricultural College ( 청주 초급 농과 대학 , 2 years old). In January 1953 it became a 4-year agricultural college, in April 1956 it became the provincial college of Chungbuk ( 충북 대학 ). In March 1962, it was merged with Chungnam University to form Chungcheong State University . In March 1963, however, it was again divided into two state universities.
In 1968 she founded the Graduate School, and in December 1977 the college developed into Chungbuk University with four colleges (faculties): Engineering, Agricultural, Pedagogical and Social Sciences.
