Nijas Anvarowitsch Ilyasov

Nijas Anwarowitsch Iljassow ( Russian: Нияз Анварович Ильясов ; born August 10, 1995 ) is a Russian judoka . He was third at the 2018 World Championships and second in the light heavyweight division in 2019.

Career

Nijas Iljassow fights in the light heavyweight division, the weight class up to 100 kilograms. In 2014 he won the European Junior Championships and a month later won silver at the U21 World Championships. In 2015 he won bronze at the Junior European Championships, but then won the U21 World Championships. In 2016 and 2017 Ilyasov won bronze at the U23 World Championships. In 2016 he also won the military world championships. In March 2018 he won the Grand Slam in Yekaterinburg . At the 2018 World Championships in Baku , he defeated the Japanese Aaron Wolf in the quarter-finals and then defeated the South Korean Cho Gu-ham in the semi-finals . With a victory over the Egyptian Ramadan Darwish Ilyasov won a bronze medal. A year later he won the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo against the Canadian Shady El Nahas and in the semifinals against Cho Gu-Ham. In the final he was defeated by the Portuguese Jorge Fonseca . At the 2019 World Military Games, Ilyasov won a bronze medal.
