Aaron Wolf

Aaron Wolf (born February 25, 1996 ) is a Japanese judoka . In 2017 he was world light heavyweight champion in the weight class up to 100 kilograms.

Wolf finished third at the U21 World Championships in 2014. In 2015 he won the Grand Prix tournaments in Ulaanbaatar and Tashkent, and in 2016 he was Japanese champion for the first time. At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest he defeated Elmar Gasimov from Azerbaijan in the quarterfinals and Michael Korrel from the Netherlands in the semifinals . In the final he defeated the Georgian Warlam Liparteliani . A year later at the 2018 World Championships in Baku, he was defeated by Russian Niyaz Ilyasov in the quarter-finals . In the round of hope he defeated Martin Korrel, he lost the battle for bronze to the Mongolian Lchagwasürengiin Otgonbaatar . At the end of 2018, Wolf won the Grand Slam tournament in Osaka. In early 2019 he lost to Warlam Liparteliani in the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Paris. At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo, he lost to the South Korean Cho Gu-ham in the quarter-finals . With victories over the Canadians Shady El Nahas and Elmar Gasimov, Wolf won a bronze medal.

Aaron Wolf is the son of an American father and a Japanese mother.
