Ryūnosuke Haga

Ryūnosuke Haga ( Japanese 羽 賀 龍之介 , Haga Ryūnosuke ; born April 28, 1991 in Nobeoka ) is a Japanese judoka . He was Olympic third in 2016 and light heavyweight world champion in 2015.

The 1.86 m tall Ryūnosuke Haga was the 2010 U20 World Champion. In 2011 he won the Universiade in Shenzen . At the 2015 World Championships in Astana, he defeated the German Dimitri Peters in the quarter-finals and the French Cyrille Maret in the semifinals . In the final he defeated the second German with Karl-Richard Frey . At the end of 2015, he won the Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he won his first two fights against the Latvian Jevgeņijs Borodavko and the Brazilian Rafael Buzacarini . In the quarterfinals he was defeated by the Czech Lukáš Krpálek . With victories over the Georgian Beka Ghwiniaschwili and the Ukrainian Artem Bloschenko , Haga secured a bronze medal. At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest he was eliminated in his second fight against the Russian Kazbek Zankischiev .
