Karl-Richard Frey (born July 11, 1991 in Troisdorf ) is a German judoka . At the Judo World Championships 2015 in Astana , he was runner-up in the 100 kg class. At the World Championships in Chelyabinsk, RUS, a year earlier, he was the only German starter to win a bronze medal. In 2016 he took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and reached fifth place.

Karl-Richard Frey grew up in Sankt Augustin and started judo at the age of 6 in the Beueler Judo Club. He is now training at TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

In 2015 he was voted NRW Sportsman of the Year .
