Felix is the name of the award for the " Sportsman of the Year " from North Rhine-Westphalia . The audience award is awarded by the state sports association and the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The "Felix" has been awarded since 2007, in the five categories "Athlete", "Sportswoman", "Team", "Newcomer", "Trainer" and, since 2010, a "Football Felix". The year before, “Soccer Player” and “Soccer Woman of the Year” were chosen and the category “Disabled Sports” was added. A jury of sports journalists will propose five candidates in each category, who will be put up for election on the Internet.

The "Felix" is presented to the winners every December at a gala.
