Florian Kehrmann (born June 26, 1977 in Neuss ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player . He played in the handball Bundesliga for 15 years at TBV Lemgo .
Career as a player
Since 1997, Kehrmann played in the senior national team and, as a left-handed player , took the right wing position , rarely right back space . He played his first international match on April 6, 1997 in Erlangen . Kehrmann was involved in all of the great successes. In 2004 he became European champion and won silver at the Olympic Games in Athens . At the 2007 World Cup in Germany, he won the title. For this triumph he was awarded the silver bay leaf .
The clubs in which he played include HG Büttgen (1983–1994), TUSEM Essen (1994–1995), Sportring Solingen (1995–1999) and from 1999 TBV Lemgo. In 2003, 2005 and 2006 the trained banker was voted handball player of the year . At the domestic World Cup in 2007 , he won the title with Germany. In consultation with national coach Heiner Brand , he did not take part in the 2009 World Cup.
On May 25, 2014, Kehrmann ended his playing career with a farewell game after 460 Bundesliga games and 1,846 goals.
Career as a coach
From the 2011/12 season he worked for handball Lemgo in youth work. From the 2013/14 season he looked after the "Lemgo Youngsters" in the 3rd division .
On December 12, 2014, he succeeded the released Niels Pfannenschmidt as head coach of the TBV Bundesliga team. The team he took over as the penultimate team still reached a non-relegation place.
Private
Kehrmann grew up in Kaarst .
On July 7, 2006, Kehrmann married his long-time friend Diana Wöstenfeld in the St. Nicolai Church in Lemgo. His wife is an active handball player herself. Their son was born on March 25, 2007, followed by a daughter on December 1, 2008.
Honors
In 2003, 2005 and 2006 Florian Kehrmann was Germany's handball player of the year and in 2006 second in the choice of the world handball player . In 2007 he was named “Sportsman of the Year” by North Rhine-Westphalia with the “Felix” .
