Gedeón Guardiola Villaplana (born October 1, 1984 in Petrer , Alicante Province ) is a Spanish handball player .

Career

Gedeón Guardiola began playing handball in his hometown at BM Petrer. From 2001 to 2005 he played at BM Valencia, with whom he took part in the EHF Cup in the 2003/04 season . He later played for SD Teucro , Naturhouse La Rioja and SDC San Antonio . For the 2012/13 season, the 1.99 meter tall circle runner moved to the German Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar Löwen , where he played with his twin brother Isaías Guardiola until 2014 . In 2013 he won the EHF Cup with the Lions . In October 2014 he extended his contract with the Löwen prematurely until 2018. He has been under contract with TBV Lemgo since the 2020/21 season .

Guardiola is part of the squad of the Spanish national team , with which he at the 2012 Olympic Games in London attended and the World Championship in 2013 won. He won bronze at the 2014 European Championships in Denmark . In 2018 and 2020 he was European champion with the Spanish team .
