Peter Johannesson (born May 12, 1992 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish handball player .

Career

Johannesson started playing handball at the Swedish club GIK Wasaiterna. From 2009 the 1.91 m tall and 94 kg heavy goalkeeper ran for IK Sävehof , with whom he won the Elitserien in 2010, 2011 and 2012 . With Sävehof he reached the group stage in the EHF Champions League 2010/11 and 2012/13, and even the second round in 2011/12. He celebrated his first international title in the EHF Challenge Cup 2013/14 . In October 2015, Johannesson moved to the German first division club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten . For the 2017/18 season Johannesson was signed by TBV Lemgo .

Peter Johannesson was in the squad of the Swedish youth and junior national teams. At the U-18 European Championship in 2010 he was seventh. At the U-20 European Championship in 2012 he was defeated by Slovenia in the game for third place, but was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. At the U-21 handball world championship in 2013 he was elected junior world champion and the best goalkeeper in the All-Star team. In the Swedish national team , Johannesson made his debut on January 10, 2013 against the Czech Republic . So far, he has played twelve international matches .
