Tagir Kamaludinovich Khaibulaev
Tagir Kamaludinowitsch Chaibulajew ( Russian Тагир Камалудинович Хайбулаев ; born July 24, 1984 in Kisiljurt ) is a former Russian judoka . In 2011 he was world champion and 2012 Olympic light heavyweight champion.
Career
Chaibulajew mostly competed in middleweight (up to 90 kg) until 2007, from 2008 he started in light heavyweight (up to 100 kg). He comes from Dagestan and trained in Saint Petersburg , where he fought for the Yawara Neva club .
He started his international career in 2004 with the silver medal at the student world championships. In 2005 he won team bronze at the European team championships. In 2006 he won the bronze medal at the U23 European Championships. In 2007 he was second in the middleweight division of the European Police Championships, the following year he won bronze in the light heavyweight division and won the open class. In 2009 he won the title at the European Championships in Tbilisi by beating the Dutchman Henk Grol in the final . In 2010 he was part of the third-placed Russian team at the European Team Championships.
At the Judo World Championships 2011 in Paris Chaibulajew defeated the Belgian Elco van der Geest in the semifinals , in the final he won against the Kazakhs Maxim Rakow . In 2012 at the Olympic Games in London , he won the first fight against van der Geest. After victories over the Belarusian Yauhen Biadulin and the Czech Lukáš Krpálek , he also won the semifinals against the German Dimitri Peters . In the final he won after 2:14 minutes against the Mongols Naidangiin Tüwschinbajar .
In 2014 Chaibulajew reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Chelyabinsk and lost to Lukáš Krpálek, in the battle for bronze he was defeated by the German Karl-Richard Frey . After Khaibulayev had won the World Cup in Madrid in June 2016, he lost his first fight against the Azerbaijani Elmar Gasimov at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
