Stewart McSweyn (born June 1, 1995 in King Island ) is an Australian long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Stewart McSweyn gained his first international experience at the World Cross Country Championships 2013 in Bydgoszcz , where he finished 86th in the junior race. In 2015 he took part in the Summer Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , and finished 14th in the 5000 meter final in 14: 37.96 minutes. In 2017 he started at the World Cross Country Championships in Kampala and was there in the general class 53. Over 3000 meter obstacle he qualified for the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 8: 47.53 minutes in the lead . In April 2018 he took part for the first time in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where he finished fifth in the 5000 meter final in 13: 58.96 minutes and eleventh over 10,000 meters.

In 2017 McSweyn became Australian champion in the 10,000 meter run. He is a student at La Trobe University in Melbourne .
