The IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2017 were the 42nd edition of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and carried the official name 42th IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2017 . They took place on March 26, 2017 in the Ugandan capital Kampala ; it was the fourth World Cross Country Championships in Africa.

Attendees

A total of 553 athletes from 59 countries took part and a team consisting of refugees was supposed to take part in the mixed relay, but it did not start.

Compared to the 2015 World Cross Country Championships , the mixed relay was added to the program. In this case, two men and two women each have to cover a distance of 2 kilometers. The women and men had to cover a distance of about ten kilometers in their races. While junior women had to cover a distance of about six kilometers, the running distance of the junior race was about eight kilometers long.
