Jacob Kiplimo (born November 14, 2000 in Taragon , Kween District ) is a Ugandan long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Jacob Kiplimo gained his first international experience at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz 2016, where he won the bronze medal over 10,000 meters in 27: 26.68 minutes. He qualified over 5000 meters for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 13: 30.40 min in the first round . At the 2017 World Cross Country Championships in Kampala , he won the men's junior race in 22:40 minutes. Over 5000 meters he took part in the World Championships in London and was eliminated there with 13: 30.92 min in the preliminary round .

At the Commonwealth Games 2018 in the Australian Gold Coast , he competed over 10,000 meters and finished fourth in 27: 30.25 minutes. In July he again took part in the U20 World Championships in Tampere , Finland , where he won the silver medal over 10,000 meters behind the Kenyan Rhonex Kipruto in 27: 40.36 minutes . He also reached sixth place over 5000 meters in 13: 23.35 minutes.

The IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2019 , the 18-year-old in March occupied in Aarhus second place and became world champion in the team standings.
