The 17th U20 World Athletics Championships took place from July 10th to 15th, 2018 at the Ratina Stadium in the Finnish city ​​of Tampere .

On March 10, 2016, at its council meeting in Monaco , the World Athletics Federation IAAF awarded the U20 World Championships 2018 to Tampere, the only applicant for these championships. Tampere had already hosted several major athletics events, including the 2003 Junior European Championships and the 2013 U23 European Championships .
