Sondre Mogens Guttormsen (born June 1, 1999 in Davis , California ) is a Norwegian athlete who specializes in the pole vault and also competes in the hurdles .

Athletic career

Sondre Guttormsen gained his first international experience in 2015 when he finished sixth at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi with a jump of 4.30 m. In the following year, he won the bronze medal at the European Youth Championships, which were held for the first time there, with a height of 5.05 m, and in 2017 he was sixth at the U20 European Championships in Grosseto with 5.10 m. In 2018 he reached sixth place at the U20 World Championships in Tampere with a jump of 5.40 m and was eliminated in the 110-meter hurdles with 14.13 seconds in the first round. In addition, he qualified for the first time for the European Championships in Berlin , where he landed in sixth place with a height of 5.75 m. The following year he was also sixth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 5.55 m and then classified fourth at the U23 European Championships in Gävle with 5.55 m . He also took part in the World Championships in Doha for the first time, but was eliminated there with 5.30 m in qualification .

In 2018 and 2019 Guttormsen was Norwegian champion in the outdoor pole vault and in 2017 indoor champion in the 60-meter hurdles.
