The 9th European Athletics U23 Championships took place from 11-14 July 2013 in the Ratina Stadium in the Finnish city ​​of Tampere .

997 athletes (438 women and 559 men) from 45 countries were registered.

The German Athletics Association (DLV) had nominated 74 (29 female, 45 male) athletes for the competitions.

The German team achieved 17 medals (5 gold, 6 silver, 6 bronze) and with 184 points was the second best team in the national ranking behind Russia.
