Neele Eckhardt (born July 2, 1992 in Ostercappeln , Lower Saxony ) is a German athlete who specializes in the triple jump . Her greatest sporting success so far is gold at the Summer Universiade in Taipei .
career path
In 2012 Eckhardt began studying law . In order to optimally prepare for the 2018 European Championships in Berlin , she planned to take a vacation semester in the summer. She has now completed all of the exams and took a semester off in preparation for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo , before taking the exam in 2021.
Athletic career
At the age of ten, Eckhardt had to choose between riding and athletics and decided on the latter. At the age of 16 she went to a sports boarding school in Hanover, where in 2009 she switched from her previous preference for long jump to triple jump. As a result, Eckhart was regionally several times Lower Saxony and North German champion in the triple jump.
In 2009 Eckhardt took part in the U18 World Championships in Brixen ( Italy ) and came in 10th.
In 2010 she became German Youth Champion and finished 8th at the U20 World Championships in Moncton ( Canada ).
In 2013 Eckhardt reached 8th place again at the U23 European Championships in Tampere ( Finland ).
In 2014 she became German U23 champion and won bronze at the German championships .
In 2016, Eckhardt came in 3rd place at the German Indoor Championships after an almost one year injury break .
In 2017 Eckhardt jumped 14.09 m at the PSD Bank Meeting in Düsseldorf on February 1, 2017 for the first time over the 14-meter mark, with which she also fulfilled the qualifying distance for the 2017 European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , where she was eliminated from the qualification. At the Lower Saxony state championships in 2017, Eckhardt managed 14.35 m and qualified with this distance for the World Championships in London in August. There Eckhardt reached the 12th place. In mid-July she was nominated by the General German University Sports Association (adh) for the Summer Universiade in Taipei ( Taiwan ), where she won gold.
2018 Eckhardt could with a width of 14.13 m German hall champion and 14.21 m German champion will be. At the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham she came in 13th place.
In 2019, Eckhardt skipped the indoor season after pneumonia and became German runner-up in the outdoor season . As in the indoor season, she had to cancel participation in the world championships due to pneumonia .
2020 Eckhardt reported back in January at the Bremen and Lower Saxony state championships in Hanover with 13.85 m in the triple jump and 7.41 s over 60 meters in the indoor season. At the North German Indoor Championships in the capital of Lower Saxony, she confirmed her form on February 1 with a victory jump to 14.01 m. Three days later, at the PSD Bank Meeting in Düsseldorf, she increased her personal best in the hall to 14.17 m, which is the world's best for the year. On February 22nd she became German indoor champion with 14.09 m in Leipzig .
Eckhardt is part of the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .
