German junior athletics championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the first time German junior championships in athletics were held in 1935. The age of the participants varied over the decades. Nowadays, the starting age is 22 years or younger ( U23 for short ).

Interrupted by the Second World War , the championships did not take place again until 1949. Since then they have been held annually. The organizer is the German Athletics Association (DLV) . During the division of Germany , the GDR hosted its own junior championships from 1952 to 1989.
