Roy Schmidt (born September 30, 1991 in Leipzig ) is a German athlete who specializes in the short sprint .
career path
Roy Schmidt attended the sports high school Jena Johann Christoph Friedrich GutsMuths , an elite school of sports that works closely with TuS Jena , among others . 2011 was the high school year. He is a police officer .
Athletic career
In 2008 Schmidt was a B-youth (U18) at the German Youth Championships 100 and 200 meter champions. He was able to repeat the success in 2009 in the A-youth (U20) over the 200 meters. Before graduating from high school, Schmidt was able to become German youth indoor champion over 60 and 200 meters in the indoor season in 2010 .
In 2013 he was the active German champion with the 4 x 100 meter relay.
Over 100 meters, Schmidt came 6th at the 2015 German Championships and 5th in 2016.
In 2016 he also won bronze in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the European Championships in Amsterdam and was nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
In 2017, Schmidt became European team champion in Lille, northern France , and took second place in the 4 x 100 meter relay . In Erfurt he came in 3rd place at the German championships in the 100 meter run.
Schmidt belongs to the B-team of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .
He starts for the LAZ Leipzig / SC DHfK Leipzig and was previously at TuS Jena .
