The 7th European Athletics Team Championships (English: 7th SPAR European Team Championships ), also known as European Team Championships , took place from 23 to 25 June 2017.

Super league

The competitions were the top league in the Stadium Lille Métropole of Villeneuve d'Ascq in northern France metropolitan Lille held from 23 to 25 of June. Due to the suspension of Russia and the associated relegation, only eleven teams took part, the last two of which were relegated to the first division, including the team from the Netherlands, which was only promoted in 2015.

The German Athletics Association (DLV) had nominated 49 athletes (23 women and 26 men). The German team started as runner-up in the super league and became European team champions. In detail, seven individual victories and a total of 26 podium places were achieved in 40 disciplines.

1st League

The participants of the 1st division competed in Karl's Stadium in the Finnish city ​​of Vaasa from June 23rd to 25th. The first three teams rose to the super league, and the last two in the second division.

The Swiss selection consisted of 48 athletes and made it into the Super League for the first time by finishing third in the league. The women were clearly the strongest gender in the Swiss team, they celebrated all eight discipline victories and took 179.5 of the 305.5 points.

2nd league

The teams of the 2nd division met on June 24th and 25th at the National Athletics Stadium in Tel Aviv . The first two teams were promoted to the 1st division, and the last two had to go to the 3rd division.

The Austrian Athletics Association (ÖLV) had put up 41 athletes (20 women and 21 men) and aimed to stay in the league, which they succeeded.

3rd league

The ten countries in the 3rd division competed on June 24th and 25th at the Matthew Micallef St. John-Athletics Stadium in Marsa, Malta .

Luxembourg provided 38 athletes (18 women and 20 men), won in eleven disciplines and became the most successful team in the second division. François Grailet set a new national record in the long jump with 7.58 meters.

Liechtenstein , Gibraltar and San Marino acted as AASSE -Mannschaft ( A thletic A ssociation of S mall S tates of E to urope). The two best national teams rose.
