The 8th European Athletics Team Championships ( 8th SPAR European Team Championships ), also known as European Team Championships , took place from August 9th to 11th, 2019. The host team of the Polish Athletics Federation became the European Team Champion 2019 . The competitions were held for both men and women in 20 disciplines each.
The final tables of the individual leagues were basically used to classify the competitions of the European Athletics Team Championships in 2021 . The new division aims to have eight teams in the super league and twelve teams each in the 1st and 2nd league. The remaining teams then form the 3rd division.
Super league
The top division competitions were held in the Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium in Bydgoszcz from August 9th to 11th. Twelve teams took part in the competitions. Finland, Sweden and Switzerland were promoted to the Superliga 2019.
The German Athletics Association (DLV) had nominated 50 athletes (25 women and 25 men) and started as champions of the 2017 European Athletics Team Championship .
The five last-placed teams in the super league are relegated to the first division and the first-placed team in the first division is promoted to the super league.
Results table
Each nation is only represented by a single athlete or relay in each discipline. A simple point system that only takes into account the placement is used for evaluation. The nation of the winner of a discipline receives a number of points identical to the number of participants, decreasing to the nation of the last place with one point.

1st League
The participants of the 1st division competed in Sandnes Stadium in the Norwegian city of Sandnes from August 9th to 11th. Due to the continued suspension of the Russian athletics association RusAF because of the doping practices there , only eleven teams took part.
The five last-placed teams in the first division (places 8 to 12) are relegated to the second division and the first-placed team in the second division is promoted to the first division. Due to the non-participation, Russia automatically relegates to the 2nd division.
2nd league
The twelve participants of the 2nd league held their competitions in the Varaždin Sport Park in the Croatian city of Varaždin on August 10th and 11th.
The last five teams in the 2nd division (places 8 to 12) are relegated to the 3rd division and the first-placed team in the 3rd division is promoted to the 2nd division.
3rd league
The 13 participants of the 3rd division competed in the Toše Proeski Arena in the north Macedonian city of Skopje on August 10th and 11th.
