Waltraud Strotzer

Waltraud Strotzer , b. Pöhland (until 1974) (born September 16, 1952 in Wünschendorf / Elster ) is a German athlete who was a successful middle-distance runner in the 1960s and 1970s - starting for the GDR . On September 5, 1969, she set a world record in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2: 42.1 minutes (after 1934 and before 1990, no world record was set for the course at the IAAF ).

In the 800-meter run she was second at the European Youth Games in 1968 (2: 07.7 min) and first (2: 05.2 min) in 1970. At the European Athletics Championships in 1966, 1969 and 1971, she started without reaching the finals.

She was GDR champion twice, in 1967 in the 800-meter run (2: 07.2 min, as Waltraud Pöhland), in 1975 in the 1500-meter run (4: 10.8 min).

Waltraud Strotzer (Pöhland) started for SC Motor Jena . She had a competition weight of 51 kg and was 1.63 m tall.
