The 18th European Junior Athletics Championships took place from July 21 to 24, 2005 in Kaunas ( Lithuania ) in the S.Dariaus and S.Girėno Stadium of the Sports University of Lithuania .

About 1000 athletes came from 44 countries, the largest teams from France, Germany, Poland and Russia.

Of the over 80 athletes nominated by the DLV , only 78 were able to compete.

In the national ranking, Russia was ahead of Germany (162) with 233 points, which in turn was ahead of Poland (148).
