Myriam Soumaré (born October 29, 1986 in the 14th arrondissement of Paris ) is a former French athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Life

In 2008 Myriam Soumaré became French champion over 200 meters in the hall . In the 4 x 100 meter relay of the Olympic Games in Beijing , she started with the French team. The season in the cast Soumaré, Muriel Hurtis-Houairi , Lina Jacques-Sébastien and Carima Louami , however, made a mistake in the run-up, so that she was disqualified.

In 2009 Soumaré became French champion over 100 meters . At the World Championships in Berlin , she reached the quarter-finals over the same distance. In 2010 she was French champion in the hall over 60 meters and over the same distance eighth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha . She achieved her international breakthrough at the European Championships in Barcelona : She won bronze over 100, gold over 200 meters and silver with the 4 x 100 meter relay.

In 2012 Soumaré won the bronze medal over 200 meters at the European Championships in Helsinki. At the Olympic Games in London, she was seventh. In March 2013 she won the bronze medal in the 60-meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden .

After a year off (2015), Soumaré surprisingly announced her retirement from professional sport in February 2016 at the age of 29. But she left a return open.

Myriam Soumaré is 1.67 m tall and weighs 57 kg. She is trained by Darnal Olivier and starts for the Association Amicale du Pays de France Athlétique 95. The family roots of the trained nanny, who only started athletics at the age of 18, are in Mauritania .
