Bruno Doer

Bruno Doer (born December 18, 1905 in Stettin ; † after 1966) was a German ancient historian .

Bruno Doer was in 1937 at the University of Berlin with a thesis on the subject of studies on the Roman naming his doctorate . Since 1955 he was employed as a senior scientific assistant at the Institute for Greco-Roman Antiquity of the German Academy of Sciences (later the Academy of Sciences of the GDR ) in Berlin . Here he was particularly concerned with the publication of the Bibliotheca scriptorum Graecorum et Romanorum Teubneriana , for which he acted as co-editor. He edited Horace , Apuleius , Sextus Empiricus , Tacitus , Plutarch , Cato the Elder and Menander and edited the edition of the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia by Vittorio Bartoletti. He also taught ancient history as a lecturer at the Humboldt University. Doer was mainly concerned with cultural history , but also with early Christianity . In 1966 he published a revised new edition of Ludwig Deubner's Attische Feste , and in 1960 the 6th edition of Eduard Nord's Die Roman Literatur .
