Ekaterina Alexandrovna Kostetskaya

Jekaterina Alexandrowna Kostezkaja ( Russian Екатерина Александровна Костецкая , English transcription Yekaterina Kostetskaya; born December 31, 1986 in Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg ) is a Russian middle-distance runner .

She began her career as a hurdler and won over 400 m hurdles gold at the 2003 Junior European Championships in Tampere and at the 2004 Junior World Championships in Grosseto and silver at the 2003 Youth World Championships in Sherbrooke and the 2005 European Junior Championships in Kaunas.

In 2007 she won silver in the 800 m at the Summer Universiade in Bangkok . Over the same distance, she reached the semifinals of the 2008 Olympic Games .

In January 2013 she was banned from doping for two years because of irregularities in her biological passport . All results after August 30, 2011 have been canceled, including a fifth place over 800 m at the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu and a ninth place over 1500 m at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

She has been married to the Australian pole vaulter Steve Hooker since 2012 . Her mother Olga Dwirna became European champion over 1500 m in 1982.
