Andrew "Andy" Vernon (born January 7, 1986 ) is a British long-distance runner .

At the European Cross Country Championships he won silver in the junior race in Tilburg in 2005 and bronze in the U23 race in Toro in 2007 .

In 2008 he finished 114th at the World Cross Country Championships in Edinburgh and won silver in the U23 race at the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels . The following year he came 78th at the 2009 World Cross Country Championships in Amman. At the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin he was twelfth and won silver with the British team.

In 2010 he finished 42nd at the Cross Country World Championships in Bydgoszcz and finished tenth in the 10,000 m for England at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi .

In 2011, a 57th place at the Cross Country World Championships in Punta Umbría was followed by a victory over 5000 m at the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen . At the European Cross Country Championship in Dublin he was ninth and again won silver with the British team.

At the European Cross Country Championships 2012 in Szentendre, with a 13th place, he again contributed to a silver medal for the British team, and at the European Cross Country Championships 2013 in Belgrade he won bronze in both the individual and team rankings.

In 2014 he was eleventh over 3000 m at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Sopot and sixth over 5000 m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow . At the European Athletics Championships in Zurich , he won over 5000 m bronze and over 10,000 m silver.

In 2008 and 2013 he was British champion over 5000 m and 2009 over 10,000 m. In 2010 and 2014 he was British indoor champion over 2000 m and in 2010 English cross-country champion .
