Richard Buck (born November 14, 1986 ) is a former British sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

In 2006 he was part of the English team for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne , but had to miss a start due to an injury. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , he came sixth with the British team in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

In 2008 he was nominated as a reserve for the British relay at the Olympic Games in Beijing , but was not used. At the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 he was fifth in the individual competition and won silver with the British relay. In 2010 he won bronze with the British relay at the World Indoor Championships in Doha .

In 2011 Buck won bronze in the individual race and silver in the relay at the European Indoor Championships . In 2012 he was runner-up in the relay world championship . At the European Championships in Helsinki , the British relay won silver, in the individual run Buck was fifth. At the Olympic Games in London shortly afterwards, he was a substitute runner.

In March 2013, he won the gold medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 2013 European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden .

Richard Buck was trained by his grandfather Geoff Barraclough and started for the City of York Athletics Club. He graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University .
