Robert Tobin

Robert John Tobin (born December 20, 1983 in Lincoln ) is an English athlete who won bronze in the 400-meter run at the 2007 European Indoor Championships . With the British 4 x 400 meter relay , he was at least once in the finals of all major championships.

Life

Tobin first appeared at the 2005 World Championships when he reached the semifinals over 400 meters. With the British season he took fourth place in the final. In March 2006, the Commonwealth Games took place in Melbourne . In the singles, Tobin reached the semi-finals, with the English season Tobin also took fourth place here, from the World Championship season of 2005 only Martyn Rooney ran in this season. In August 2006 Tobin was the starting runner of the British relay at the 2006 European Championships , along with Rhys Williams , Graham Hedman and Timothy Benjamin he won the silver medal behind the French team.

At the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007, Tobin also reached the final in the individual competition for the first time, in 46.15 s he was well behind the Irish David Gillick and the German Bastian Swillims , but in the battle for bronze he won with two hundredths of a second ahead of the Swede Johan Wissman . The next day, the British season won with Tobin as the starting runner and Dale Garland , Philip Taylor and Steven Green ahead of the seasons from Russia and Poland, with the British benefiting from the fact that the first-placed German season was subsequently disqualified because of a jostling. At the 2007 World Championships , Tobin ran into sixth place with the British relay.

With a fifth place for the British relay at the World Indoor Championships in 2008 , the Olympic year began unpromisingly for the British relay, at the Olympic Games in 2008 the relay reached third place, with only the victorious US relay in both competitions ahead of the British. At the 2009 World Championships , Tobin once again competed in the individual competition, but was eliminated in the semifinals, like four years earlier. In the season finale, however, Conrad Williams , Michael Bingham , Robert Tobin and Martyn Rooney only had to admit defeat to the US runners, in 3: 00.53 min the season won silver before the Australian season. Also at the European Championships 2010 , the British relay with Tobin came second.

At a height of 1.89 m, his competition weight is 73 kg.
