Robert Maćkowiak
Robert Maćkowiak (born May 13, 1970 in Rawicz ) is a former Polish athlete .
Maćkowiak was the best 400-meter runner in his country in the 1990s . His first big success in an individual competition was winning the silver medal at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest . With the Polish 4 x 400 meter relay , he achieved numerous excellent results. The highlight was winning the silver medal at the 1999 World Championships in Seville . Antonio Pettigrew of the victorious US squadron later admitted to having been doped, after which the Poles moved up to first place.
He ran his personal best at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton with 44.84 s. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , at the age of 35, he appeared again in the final of the 4 x 400 meter relay and finished fifth with his three Polish colleagues. With a height of 1.80 m, his competition weight was 78 kg.
