Marharyta Serhijivna Dorozhon ( Hebrew מרגריטה סרגייבנה דורוז'ון, Ukrainian Маргари́та Сергі́ївна Дорожо́н , engl. Transcription Marharyta Dorozhon ; * September 4, 1987 in Dnipropetrovsk , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Israeli javelin thrower of Ukrainian origin who has been authorized to start for Israel since 2014.
Athletic career
Marharyta Doroschon gained her first international experience in 2003 at the Youth World Championships in Sherbrooke , where she was eliminated from the qualification with a width of 38.76 m. Then she finished sixth at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Paris with 47.24 m. The following year she took part in the Junior World Championships in Grosseto , but did not reach the final with 49.23 m. In 2005 she was at the Junior European Championships in Kaunas with a throw on 50.93 m seventh and in 2006 she won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Beijing with 57.68 m. At the U23 European Championships in Debrecen in 2007 , she was eliminated with 45.15 m in qualification. In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London for the Ukraine , but missed a final place with 56.74 m . The following year she took part in the World Championships in Moscow for the first time , but also retired there with 58.23 m in qualification.
Doroschon has been competing for Israel since 2014 and in 2015 she won the bronze medal in athletics at the European Games in Baku , where she won the javelin competition with 58.00 m. She also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing, but did not reach the final with 61.04 m . In 2016 she was eliminated from the European Championships in Amsterdam without a valid attempt in the preliminary round and also missed a qualification for the Olympic Games. In 2017 she won the Maccabiade in Jerusalem with a width of 63.07 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in London with 61.33 m .
In 2013 Doroschon was the Ukrainian javelin champion. She also secured the javelin title for Israel in 2015 and from 2017 to 2019.
