The 16th European Athletics Junior Championships for athletes under 20 years of age ( U20 for short ) took place from July 19 to 22, 2001 at the Carlo Zecchini Stadium in Grosseto ( Italy ).

Attendees

About 900 athletes from 41 countries came. The DLV had nominated 62 athletes (32 female and 30 male). Eleven competitors were sent from the Austrian Athletics Association and ten from the Swiss Athletics Association .
