Konstandínos "Kostas" Filippídis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Φιλιππίδης ; born November 26, 1986 ) is a Greek pole vaulter . He is active for the Panellinios Athens association

In 2005 he won the Mediterranean Games , retired from qualifying at the World Championships in Helsinki and won silver at the Universiade . In 2006 he failed at the European Championships in Gothenburg in the preliminary round.

On June 16, 2007 he was tested positive for the stimulant etilefrine during a doping control . First of all, a two-year ban was imposed for a violation of the doping regulations , which was lifted at the beginning of 2009 when the new WADA code came into force on the basis of the lex mitior principle .

A preliminary round at the 2009 World Cup in Berlin was followed by fourth place at the World Indoor Championships in Doha in 2010 . At the European Championships in Barcelona he did not get beyond the qualification again. In 2011 he was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Paris and sixth at the World Championships in Daegu .

In 2012 Filippidis finished seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul . He achieved the same place at the Olympic Games in London. After the games he jumped a new national record in Lausanne with 5.80 m. He increased this to 5.82 m at the opening event of the Diamond League 2013 in Doha .

In 2014 Filippidis won the gold medal at the World Indoor Championships . In 2017 he won the silver medal at the European Indoor Athletics Championships with a new Greek record of 5.85 meters .
