Christian Blum (born March 10, 1987 in Neubrandenburg ) is a German athlete who has specialized in the sprint .

Athletic career

Blum didn't get into athletics until he was 13. He was previously active in canoe racing , but he enjoyed training indoors more. As a track and field athlete, he was two-time German B youth champion over 100 and 200 m.

In 2005, Blum won the European Junior Championships with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 39.90 seconds.

In 2006, Blum became youth indoor champion over 60 meters (6.73 s) and over 200 meters (21.40 s). In the open air he won the youth title over 100 meters and came second over 200 meters. He participated in the 2006 World Youth Championships in Beijing . With 10.39 s over 100 meters and 21.00 s over 200 meters, he led the youth best lists in 2006.

In 2007 , Blum became German indoor champion in the adult class in 6.59 seconds. At the European Indoor Championships he made it to the semi-finals. In the outdoor season 2007 he was the best German sprinter in the first half of the season and improved his best time to 10.26 s. At the German Championships in Erfurt he only finished fourth in 10.43 s. Blum was then nominated for the 2007 World Championships (individual and relay), but not used because he sustained a thigh injury on August 12 in Wattenscheid.

In 2011 , 2012 , 2014 and 2015 Christian Blum became German indoor champion over 60 m . Outdoors he was German runner-up over 100 m in 2010 and 2011 and German champion in 2012 and 2014 with the 4 × 100 m relay of TV Wattenscheid 01 . At the European Indoor Championships in Prague in 2015 , he won the silver medal over 60 meters.

In 2016, Blum started as the German vice indoor champion over 60 meters.
