Jan Fitschen (right) - European 10,000m champion from Gothenburg on August 8, 2006 - became German champion over 5000 and 10,000 meters.
The 106th German Athletics Championships were held on July 15 and 16, 2006 in the Donaustadion in Ulm .
As always, there were numerous outsourced disciplines with events on other dates in other locations, here is a chronological list:
- Cross-country races - Regensburg , March 11th with individual / team ratings middle distance (women and men) and long distance (men)
- Half marathon - Herten-Bertlich , March 26th with individual / team ratings for women and men
- 50 km walk (men) - Biberach , April 8th
- 100 km road race - Hanau-Rodenbach , April 29th with individual / team ratings for women and men
- 10,000 meter runs (women and men) and long relays, 3 × 800 m (women) / 3 × 1000 m (men) - Tübingen , May 6th

- Mountain run - Schwangau , August 13th with individual / team ratings for women and men

- 10 km road race - Regensburg , September 10th with individual / team ratings for women and men
- Marathon - as part of the Munich Marathon , October 8th with individual / team ratings for women and men
