The 52nd German Athletics Championships were held on June 28 and 29, 1952 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The early appointment was necessary because of the Olympic Games in Helsinki , which began on July 19th.

These were the first championships after 1938, in which the athletes were again concerned with qualifying for a major international event. Until then, German sport had remained excluded after the Second World War . The athletes were affected at the European Athletics Championships in Oslo in 1946 and in Brussels in 1950 , as well as the 1948 Olympic Games in London . The competitions had a very special charm and there were four German records:

As in previous years, several more championship titles were awarded at various other locations:

The men's pentathlon , which previously comprised the first day of the decathlon as the so-called “German pentathlon” , was replaced for the first time by the international pentathlon with the disciplines long jump, javelin throw, 200 m, discus throw, 1500 m.

The following overviews summarize the medal winners. A more detailed overview with the first six in each of the individual disciplines can be found under the link German Athletics Championships 1952 / Results .
