Hermann Eberlein

Hermann Eberlein (born September 17, 1917 in Munich ; † October 21, 2010 there ) was a German athlete who competed for TSV 1860 Munich .

In 1939 and 1946 he was German champion in the 5,000 meter run , in 1947 and 1948 he took second place, in 1941 third. When he won in 1939, he set a German record of 14: 27.2 minutes that lasted until 1950.

In 1950 he was German champion in the 10,000 meter run , in 1949, 1952, 1953, in 1954 he was runner-up, in 1951 he reached third place. In 1938, from 1947 to 1954 and 1958 he won the German athletics team championship ten times with the Munich Lions .

At the German championships in forest and cross-country running , he won the title in the long distance in 1952. In 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1959, he and two fellow runners won the team title over the same distance.

Eberlein did not take part in the Olympic Games or European Championships , but took part in the international matches 26 times .

During his active time he was 1.65 m tall and 53 kg. In 1952 he was awarded the Rudolf Harbig Memorial Prize. Before that, on January 25, 1951, he was honored by being awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf.
