Lists on the subject

The Walther SSP is a sport pistol in caliber .22 lfB manufactured by the Carl Walther company.

It was specially developed for shooting sports and uses all the possibilities of the competition regulations in its construction.

properties

Like some other sport pistols, the Walther SSP also has a so-called "tap-less system". In the case of pistols, a stopcock that protrudes at the rear end is otherwise common, hits a so-called firing pin (pin) when pulled, which then ignites the cartridge by impact and thus triggers the shot.

The firing pin is moved horizontally, which, in contrast to a hammer design, results in a significantly lower torque. The axis of the barrel is lower on this pistol than on the previous GSP model.

These two factors cause only a small amount of torque to be produced when the shot is fired and thus less warping.

Furthermore, the recoil is dampened pneumatically. This reduces the impact of the inevitable recoil. In the time-limited disciplines, less time is spent on roughly realigning the jumping weapon and more on aiming, but the SSP is not an OSP pistol.

As usual in competitions, the magazine holds five cartridges and is inserted into the pistol from above. Care should be taken to use newer stainless steel magazines, as older soft iron magazines flare up on the side and lead to malfunctions over time.

Due to the use of lighter materials, the weight is significantly lower at 970 g than that of the previous GSP model (1.2 kg), which was built with a lot of steel . However, this makes the recoil in the wrist more noticeable.
