Lists on the subject |
The Walther PPQ , or Quick Defense Police Pistol , is a pistol made by the German weapons manufacturer Walther .
history
The Walther PPQ is a further development of the Walther P99QA . The most striking feature, like the Walther P99, is the lack of a hammer, the PPQ uses a firing pin lock that is completely inside . The abbreviation PPQ stands for "Polizeipistole Quick-Defense".
technology
The weapon works according to the modified Browning system and has a Picatinny rail in the front area of the grip for optoelectronic aiming aids . A silencer can also be installed.
There is no manual safety device , as is common with most self-loading pistols; When fully loaded, the weapon is permanently cocked and ready to fire immediately. The advantage here is that the trigger always has a constant trigger travel of 9 mm. The weapon was developed especially for special forces. In addition, all operating elements, such as the slide catch lever and magazine catch, are located on both sides. The weapon has three automatic fuses. In addition, the weapon has a center tongue on the trigger as an additional fall protection .
The back of the handle is interchangeable and can therefore be adapted to different hand shapes and sizes. The rounded design means that the weapon can hardly get caught when it is concealed - i.e. carried under clothing.
Model variants
The PPQ Navy is a variant of the PPQ that was specially developed for maritime special forces. It has additional holes in the firing pin channel and special guides that optimize the water displacement. Thus, even if the weapon is completely flooded with water, it is still ready to fire immediately.
The models of the Q5 Match series are particularly suitable for sporty shooting in terms of their equipment. There is the Q5 Match series with polymer and steel grips. The PPQ M2 Subcompact is a smaller version that was developed for concealed guidance.
The Classic series can be identified by the rocker in the trigger guard, while the M2 generation has a button on the side to release the magazine.
