The Elefant group was founded in 1976 by students from the Liszt School of Music in Weimar .

Name of the band

The idea for the name came from the well-known Weimar restaurant and hotel Elephant . The band was founded there under the management of Burkhard Lasch .

history

Members of the first line-up were:

  • Eva Kyselka (vocals)
  • Marion Scharf (vocals)
  • Ute Freudenberg (vocals)
  • Klaus Lass (vocals and guitar)
  • Herbert Wagner (bass)
  • Uli Mann (keyboard)
  • Robert Albracht (guitar)
  • Wolfgang Atze Klawonn (saxophone)
  • Andy Schwenke (drums)
  • Peter Taudte (drums)

The first event took place in this line-up at Carnival 1976 in the Weimarhalle . The first track that Amiga produced was the original song ; It was followed by three girls and a band . Both tracks appeared on the group's first single in 1976.

Since not all members were ready to give up their studies for a musical career, there were many changes in the line-up over time. In 1980 the band moved to East Berlin . All musicians except for Ute Freudenberg were replaced. Michael Heubach (keyboard), Peter Piele (drums), Werner Kunze (guitar), Bernd Henning (guitar) and bassist Bodo Huth appeared as Freudenberg's accompanying band from then on. In the same year Ute Freudenberg and Elefant celebrated a great success with the song Jugendliebe . Heubach was replaced in 1981 by Manfred Hennig. In 1984 Freudenberg moved to the Federal Republic of Germany . The elephant group no longer existed. Huth switched to principle , Henning to Part Zwo .
