Ulrich Mann (musician)

Ulrich "Uli" Mann (born November 10, 1953 in Schalkau ) is a German musician, composer, arranger and music teacher.

Life

Ulrich Mann grew up in the small town of Schalkau in southern Thuringia. At the age of ten he began taking piano lessons, which was how his musical talent was discovered. From 1968 to 1972 he attended EOS Max Greil, today's Hennebergische Gymnasium , in Schleusingen . He then studied piano and music education from 1972 to 1977 at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar with Manfred Schmitz and Erika Heide.

Ulrich Mann has lived in Berlin since 1977 and has been married to Elisabeth (née Dolg) since 1979; they have two sons together.

Act

Ulrich Mann initially played in various bands:

  • 1975/1976 keyboard at Pro Art , Ilmenau
  • 1976/1977 Keyboard with Gruppe Elefant , Weimar
  • 1977–1982 co-founder and keyboard with Silly , Berlin (tours to Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Norway)

From 1982 to 1991 various arrangements and compositions for the record label Amiga , radio and television followed. He worked with interpreters such as Gerd Christian , Andreas Holm , Peter Ehrlicher , Roland Neudert , Regina Thoss , Olaf Berger , Dunja Rajter , Katrin Fischer and Uta Bresan . In 1987 and 1988 he was employed as a music producer in an East Berlin radio station in the pop-rock division.

In 1985 Ulrich Mann celebrated his greatest success with the production of the LP Christmas in the family with Frank Schöbel , Aurora Lacasa and their children Dominique and Odette. Christmas with the family is considered the best-selling Amiga sound carrier. To date, over 2 million copies have been sold.

From 1982 to 2000 Ulrich Mann composed mainly vocal and instrumental titles. From 1991 to 2002 he specialized in station jingles for the German broadcaster , Radio Brandenburg , Antenne Brandenburg and MDR 1 Radio Sachsen .

Ulrich Mann has been working as a piano teacher at the Shostakovich Music School in Berlin-Lichtenberg since 1999 . In addition, Ulrich Mann has been advocating the rights of music school teachers in Berlin and the interests of music-interested students since 2006 as a lecturer's representative.
