Olaf Berger
Olaf Berger (born December 24, 1963 in Dresden , GDR) is a German pop singer and presenter.
Life
Olaf Berger comes from a family of musicians. The father, Lothar Berger, led the gala band Die Virginias for 30 years . After finishing school, Berger trained to be a car mechanic. Then he played guitar and sang in his father's band. In 1985 he took part in the GDR youth competition Goldener Rathausmann . He then got some television appearances and the first single Esbrennt wie Feuer was released . In 1987 his first album of the same name was released. This made Olaf Berger one of the most successful pop singers in the GDR . He received numerous prizes and awards.
Berger won the Golden Tuning Fork in 1990 . This made him the first artist in the GDR to receive this award. His first hits in Germany as a whole were I still love you and But in the evening the longing begins . Soon Berger was invited to various television and radio events. In 1993 the producer and composer Jack White signed him. White produced the album Tell me something about you with him in 1994 . In 1999 he took part in the German Schlager Festival with the title Give me your dreams and reached 3rd place. Olaf Berger recorded a few duets with his daughter.
After series of programs in 2004 ( A bus ride that is funny ... ), 2005 ( Why wander into the distance ) and 2006 ( Olaf is already doing it ) on MDR television, Berger was ten weeks in the show animal, animal! active as moderator and animal mediator. From 2007 to 2011 he presented the MDR show TOP TEN , in which he presented hits from the broadcast area.
Berger's eleventh album was released in spring 2008, and his first Christmas album was released in autumn. To mark his 25th stage anniversary, Berger released his twelfth album, The Second Sentiment, in March 2010 . In 2011 he switched to David Brandes and Koch Universal Music and released the album Stations in February 2012 .
From 2011, Berger lived separated from his first wife, followed by divorce in 2014. A daughter emerged from this marriage. Since December 2016, he has been married to his second wife, whom he met in 2012. Berger lives in Dresden. He also has an apartment in Mallorca . He recorded the single Sommer in Berlin (2020) with Stereoact , which he met in August 2019 at Immer wieder sonntags .
